Party on the Pitch
Star-treatment for two Lulu fans after cold concert
SIXTIES star Lulu gave two young boys a ride home from last weekend’s
Party on the Pitch concert in Carlisle after they got soaked in the
rain.
The pop star – who was the headline act at the Brunton Park gig –
felt sorry for the boys after they braved the cold and rain to see her
perform.
George Thomson, operations manager at Carlisle United, said: “Lulu
was an absolute star – she was so honest and genuine.
“She watched these two lads throughout her performance as they were
on the front row.
“After the concert, they asked her manager if she would sign an
autograph for them. About 45 minutes later she came out to see them.
“She was shocked when she saw how wet they were and asked for two
towels to dry them off. The poor lads must have been very cold.
“She dried their heads with the towels and then signed them as a
souvenir.”
The boys, aged 12 and 13, were then shocked when Lulu asked them how
they were getting home.
“They said their dad was coming to pick them up and she asked for
the number and said she would call him for them,” said Mr Thomson.
“She called home and the two boys jumped in her car and drove off
to Harraby.
“They were absolutely star-struck. It was as if all their dreams
came true at once.”
